Here's the latest:
After 2 days of frustrating meetings between our POA (power of attorney), lawyer, and social welfare, things finally started to move forward yesterday. The official who was causing the problems DID have a change of heart and agreed to consult with a higher-up official in the capital (one who is known for being more supportive of international adoption) regarding our case. That meeting was to be held this morning. However, when our team arrived at the social welfare office for the meeting, the doors were locked. We just learned that Ghana's government went on strike, indefinitely, today. This is a nationwide shut down and they do not know when it will end.
Please, please do not give up praying. We are frustrated, exhausted, and discouraged; but somewhere underneath all of that, we are confident. There is nothing - NOTHING - that will keep us from our baby boy and we are NOT giving up. As I struggle through our lack of control in this situation, I have found great comfort in Exodus 14:14 - "the Lord will fight for you; you need only to be still." We will continue to trust as we wait - eagerly and expectantly - for a miracle.
We are so drained, but so hopeful. We couldn't imagine walking this road without you. Thank you for the ways that you have rallied around us, loved us, and carried us this week.
